Overview
Once LockDown Browser is installed on your computer, taking a quiz that requires it works a lot like a normal Canvas quiz, with a few extra steps to get started.
Before your quiz
Make sure LockDown Browser is already installed on the computer you plan to use. If you have not installed it yet, see the install guide for your operating system. It only needs to be installed once per device.
Starting the quiz
- Log into Canvas using a standard browser, such as Chrome or Firefox, and go to your course.
- Navigate to the quiz. If it requires LockDown Browser, the quiz title or landing page will let you know.
- Click Take the Quiz. This will launch LockDown Browser automatically.
- LockDown Browser may ask you to close other programs running in the background, such as screen recording or messaging apps. Click Yes to close them so you can continue.
- If prompted, log back into Canvas from within LockDown Browser using your usual credentials.
- Follow any additional on screen prompts. These will vary depending on the settings your instructor has chosen, such as a webcam check if Respondus Monitor is also being used.
Taking the quiz
Once the quiz begins, answer the questions as you normally would. Keep in mind that once you have started, you will not be able to exit LockDown Browser until the quiz has been submitted for grading. You also will not be able to print, copy, take screenshots, or open other applications or websites during the quiz.
Submitting the quiz
When you are finished, click Submit Quiz just as you would in a regular Canvas quiz. After submitting, you will be able to exit LockDown Browser and return to your normal browser.
