Body

Canvas: Using the MEDIAL Application

  • Within Canvas, edit the course page or assignment where this video will be located.

  • From the text editor menu, click the MEDIAL icon.

  • The first time you use the MEDIAL app for Canvas you will be prompted to sign in with your Puget Sound username and password.

  • You will be presented with several options. To embed a video that was digitized by Media Services and the Library, select Search.

  • You’ll be presented with a selection of videos for use in your Canvas course. If you see the film you’ve requested in this list, click Select under the video thumbnail.
  • Otherwise, click Keyword search, enter the film title, and click the magnifying glass icon to search for your video, and then click Select as shown above under the video thumbnail.

If you do not see the film you’ve requested, you can reach Media Services during normal business hours at x8585 or media@pugetsound.edu.

  • Click Next.> (Do not be concerned by the message that says "Download disabled by category")
  • You’ll be taken back to the Canvas page, where a video thumbnail will appear.
  • Scroll down and Click Save, or Save & Publish. After this page is published, students will be able to click on the video thumbnail, enter their credentials, and watch any video from the MEDIAL library that has been embedded in a Canvas page.
