Overview

Technology Services wants to provide you with the knowledge and tools needed to protect yourself and the university from cyber threats. Since information security is a shared responsibility, you play a large role in helping safeguard university data. Security awareness training will help you better understand and identify cyber threats, learn how to protect yourself, and be equipped to stay safe online.

Accessing Online Training

Starting October 2022, Technology Services has partnered with KnowBe4 to offer interactive learning modules to build security awareness. KnowBe4 Security Awareness Training is available to current faculty, staff, and students. The content covers a range of topics about staying safe online such as recognizing phishing, detecting social engineering scams, and keeping computing systems safe.

To access the training materials, go to login.pugetsound.edu and click KnowBe4 Security Awareness Training from your apps dashboard. Available content will be in the Library tab and assigned content will be in the Training tab.

Navigating KnowBe4

The training portal has multiple tabs you can navigate between. The available tabs are Dashboard, Training, Library, and Badges.

Dashboard

By default, you will be taken to your training dashboard when you log in. This page provides an overview of your assigned training and simulated phishing results. You will also be shown your progress toward various badges, which are earned by completing certain training challenges.

Training

Training that has been assigned to you is listed under this tab. You do not need to finish a training module in one sitting and can return to the training by clicking Resume on the assignment. When you reach the end of your training, be sure to click Complete Training to track your progress. More information about the learning platform is available. Note: you may need to disable your browser’s pop-up blocker for the training module to open in a new window.

Library

Optional training content will be available under the Library tab. In the Recommended by Your Organization section, use the arrow buttons to browse through interactive modules that have been curated by Technology Services. You may also search or sort by content type. Note: you may need to disable your browser’s pop-up blocker for the training module to open in a new window.

Badges

Get recognized for being a cyber hero! Badges are completely optional but are a fun way to develop personal goals to help you stay motivated and continue learning. Learn more about earning badges on KnowBe4’s knowledge base.

Other Training

During Cyber Security Awareness Month in October, the Information Security team generally offers live training sessions available to all campus members.

If you would like training on a specific topic or a general training for your department, request a training session.
