Extended Access Period for Students

To ensure students have adequate time to prepare and review course materials, the institution provides an extended access period for online courses. Below are the details:

  • Start Date: Students can access courses 7 days before the official start date of their class. This early access allows them to familiarize themselves with the course layout, syllabus, and initial assignments. Note: faculty must publish their course before students can access it.

  • End Date: Course access continues for 28 days after the official end date of the term. This extended period supports students in reviewing materials for comprehensive exams, professional certification preparation, or personal reference.

Faculty Override Options

Faculty members have the flexibility to adjust course access settings to meet the needs of their students. Here are the customization options:

  1. Custom Access Dates: Faculty can override the default start and end dates to allow students earlier or later access to course content. This is particularly useful for courses with unique schedules or prerequisites requiring additional preparation time.

  2. Post-Term Access: Faculty may extend course access beyond the standard 28-day post-term period. This option is ideal for students needing additional time to complete coursework due to exceptional circumstances or for projects requiring long-term collaboration.

How to Adjust Course Access Dates

Faculty members can adjust course access dates through their course settings or by contacting the Educational Technology team.

  1. Course participation dates must be updated in two locations. The first is in Settings on the Course Details tab:
  2. The second location is on the individual course section(s). Select the Sections tab, then click the individual section, then click Edit Section and update the dates as needed:
