Overview
The Phone security method allows you to enter a code received via SMS text message or voice call to verify your login. This security method will be retired soon. Technology Services recommends all campus members to set up Okta Verify or another supported option as their primary security method instead.
Retirement of SMS and Voice Call for MFA
The university will be retiring telephony-based security methods for multi-factor authentication. Technology Services recommends setting up a supported security method soon as you will be unable to receive a text message or voice call to verify your login in the near future.
How to use phone to log in

Enter a code received via SMS
- In a browser, go to login.pugetsound.edu.
- Type in your Puget Sound username and password then click Sign in.
- Select Phone. If you have multiple phone numbers configured, the last four digits of the number will be displayed. Select the number you would like to use.
- Note: If Phone is not presented as an option, select Verify with something else.

- Click Receive a code via SMS.

- Enter the 6-digit code you received from the text message then click Verify.

- Type in your Puget Sound username and password then click Sign in.
- Select Phone. If you have multiple phone numbers configured, the last four digits of the number will be displayed. Select the number you would like to use.

- Click Receive a voice call instead.

- Enter the 5-digit code you hear then click Verify.
