How do I use LockDown Browser on my personal computer?

This guide walks you through using LockDown Browser to take a test in Canvas on your personal computer.

Using LockDown Browser on a personal computer

Once LockDown Browser has been downloaded onto your personal computer, you will find its icon on your Desktop, or in your Applications folder if you are on a Mac.

  1. Double click the icon to launch the program.
  2. Click Yes to allow the program to run.
  3. Click the arrow to open the dropdown menu.
  4. Select Canvas@Tacoma CC.
  5. Click OK to confirm your selection.
  6. LockDown Browser will ask you to close any other programs you have open. These must be closed before continuing. Click Yes to close them.
  7. Click Yes to continue to Canvas.
  8. When prompted to log in, use your Portal username and password, then click Login.
  9. Canvas will open and you can continue to your course as you normally would.
  10. Navigate to your quiz.
  11. Click Take the Quiz.
  12. Once you have finished, click Submit Quiz as you normally would.
  13. To close LockDown Browser, click the red X in the upper right hand corner.
  14. Click Yes to confirm that you want to exit.
