Editing in Google Vids allows you to enhance and customize your video content with tools for trimming, adding narration, transitions, and more. Follow this guide to learn how to edit your video efficiently.
Accessing the Editor
Open Your Video
Log into your Google Drive and navigate to Google Vids. Open the video project you want to edit.
Access the Timeline
Once the video is open, the timeline at the bottom will display all scenes and clips. You can edit individual scenes, media, or the full video from this view.
Editing Features
Trim a Video Clip
- Select the clip you want to edit on the timeline.
- Click on the clip to open the editing menu.
- Move your mouse to the left edge or right edge of the clips to get the two headed arrow to adjust the start and end points of the clip.

Add or Edit Narration
- Click the Record button to add narration to a specific scene.
- Preview the recording and insert it into the desired position on the timeline.
- To replace an existing narration, delete the original and re-record.

Add Transitions Between Clips
- Select the point between two clips on the timeline.
- Click the Transitions option from the toolbar.
- Choose a transition effect (e.g., fade, slide, or zoom) and apply it.

Insert New Media
- Click the + (Add Content) button on the timeline.
- Upload files from your computer or insert media from Google Drive.
- Drag the media to the desired position on the timeline.

Adjust Scene Timings
- Select a scene or clip on the timeline.
- Use the duration settings to increase or decrease the length of the scene.
- Preview the changes to ensure smooth playback.

Add Captions or Text Overlays
- Click the Text option in the toolbar.
- Add captions, titles, or descriptions to your video.
- Customize the font, size, color, and positioning of the text.
