Connecting to VPN

Overview

A virtual private network (VPN) provides a secure and encrypted connection to the university’s network from a computer located off campus. When you connect to vpn.pugetsound.edu using our VPN client, your device will behave as if it were on the campus network. This means you can access restricted resources such as certain library systems and university file servers. Using VPN also offers greater security by protecting your internet traffic from potential eavesdropping while you may be working on a public WiFi network (e.g. airport, coffee shop).

Please note that a VPN does not protect your device against viruses and malware. If you are on a personal device, please ensure you have anti-virus software installed and running.

The university utilizes GlobalProtect VPN. To connect to VPN, you must have a reliable internet connection off-campus.

Basic Instructions

Step 1: Download and install GlobalProtect on your device

Step 2: Connect to the university VPN

  • Launch the GlobalProtect app
  • Enter vpn.pugetsound.edu as the portal address
  • Click or tap Connect
  • Log in with your university credentials
