Password Management

Overview

If you forgot your password or want to change your password, please follow the instructions below. If you change your password, it must meet the password requirements outlined in the password policy.

Reset a forgotten password

Note: if you do not have any recovery methods available, please call the Service Desk at 253-879-8585 for assistance. You will be asked to verify your identity. 

  1. Open a web browser and go to login.pugetsound.edu.
  2. Click Forgot Password? under the sign in button. 
  3. Enter your Puget Sound username then click Next.

  4. Select which security method you'd like to use. If you are using a recognized browser, you will only see your configured options. Otherwise, you will see all available options. If you do not receive an email/prompt/text/call, you may not have previously configured that method.

    • If you choose Email, click Send me an email. You will receive an email with a link to set a new password. Click the Reset Password button in the email. Please note that the link is only valid for one hour.
    • If you choose Google Authenticator, open the Google Authenticator app on your mobile device, enter the 6-digit code displayed for your account, then click Verify.
    • If you choose Okta Verify, you will receive a push notification on your mobile device. Tap Yes, It's Me to continue. 
    • If you choose Phone, select whether to Receive a code via SMS or Receive a voice call instead. You should receive a text message or voice call with a code. Enter the code then click Verify.
  5. Type in the answer to your security question then click Verify. Please note that the question presented will vary depending on what you set up.

  6. Create a new password that meets the requirements based on the university's password policy. Type in your new password in the New password and Re-enter password fields. 
  7. Click Reset Password. You should receive an email confirmation that your password has been successfully changed!

Change your password

  1. Log in to your Okta dashboard at login.pugetsound.edu, click your name in the upper-right corner then click Settings.

  2. In the Change Password section, the password requirements will be listed. Remember to create a unique password for your Puget Sound account!
    • Note: If you have been signed in for more than 15 minutes and do not see the fields to enter a new password, click the green Edit Profile button in the upper right. You will be prompted to re-authenticate.

  3. Type in your current password in the Current password field. Type in your new password into both the New password and Confirm new password fields then click Change Password.
  4. You should receive an email confirmation that your password has been successfully changed!
