First Time Logging In

  1. Open a web browser and go to login.pugetsound.edu.
  2. Log in with your Puget Sound username and password.
  3. Click Setup under at least one option to enroll in multi-factor authentication. Technology Services strongly recommends setting up multiple options to prevent getting locked out of your account if you get a new phone or number. Your second factor can be chosen from the following options. For detailed instructions on setting up these factors, please see our article on setting up multi-factor authentication.
    • Okta Verify App (recommended): push notification or one-time code
    • Google Authenticator: one-time code
    • SMS Authentication: one-time code sent via text message
    • Voice Call Authentication: one-time code provided via phone call
  4. If prompted, set a new password then click Change Password.
  5. For password recovery, type in your personal email address in the Secondary email field. Do not use your Puget Sound email address. If you do not wish to provide a secondary email or do not have one, click I don't have a secondary email. However, Technology Services encourages you to add a secondary email so you can reset a forgotten password or unlock your account via self-service outside support hours.
  6. Click the dropdown menu to choose a security question and type in your answer in the field below. Only you should know the answer to this question. This will be used to confirm your identity when you forget your password or need to unlock your account.
  7. If you would like to add a cell phone number as an additional option for password recovery, click Add Phone Number. This is optional. Note: If you set up SMS Authentication as your factor, you will not see this option as it is already configured.
    • Click the dropdown to select the country where your phone is registered and enter your 10-digit cell phone number. Then click Send CodeAt this time, only US and Canada cell numbers can be used.
    • You should receive a text message on your cell phone. Enter the 6-digit code and click Verify. Once that is complete, click Done.
  8. Click on any of the pictures to choose an image that will be associated with your Okta account. This image will be displayed on the Puget Sound Okta sign-in page after you enter your username so that you can recognize that the site is authentic.
  9. Click Create My Account and your enrollment is complete!
    • If you entered a secondary email address, you should receive an email to your personal mailbox. Please click the Confirm Email link in the message to verify the address. You must confirm the email before you can use it to reset a forgotten password or unlock your account.
