First Time Logging In

Instructions

  1. Open a web browser and go to login.pugetsound.edu.
  2. Log in with your Puget Sound username and password.
  3. Click Setup under at least one option to enroll in multi-factor authentication. Technology Services strongly recommends setting up multiple options to prevent getting locked out of your account if you get a new phone or number. For detailed instructions on setting up these factors, please see our article on setting up multi-factor authentication.
    • Okta Verify App (recommended): push notification or one-time code
    • Google Authenticator: one-time code
    • Security Key or Biometric Authenticator: FIDO2 key (e.g. USB security key or Mac Touch ID)
  4. If prompted, set a new password then click Change Password.
  5. For password recovery, type in your personal email address in the Secondary email field. Do not use your Puget Sound email address. If you do not wish to provide a secondary email or do not have one, click I don't have a secondary email. However, Technology Services strongly encourages you to add a secondary email so you can reset a forgotten password or unlock your account via self-service outside support hours.
  6. Click the dropdown menu to choose a security question or write your own, and type in your answer in the field below. Only you should know the answer to this question. This will be used to confirm your identity when you forget your password or need to unlock your account.
  7. Click on any of the pictures to choose an image that will be associated with your Okta account. This image will be displayed on the Puget Sound Okta sign-in page after you enter your username so that you can recognize that the site is authentic.
  8. Click Create My Account and your enrollment is complete!
    • If you entered a secondary email address, you should receive an email to your personal mailbox. Please click the Confirm Email link in the message to verify the address. You must confirm the email before you can use it to reset a forgotten password or unlock your account.
